Planned Parenthood’s New Jingle: “It Just Depends On What Type of Pain You Can Take.”

by Rachel Del Guidice

June 19, 2014

In its latest undercover investigation, the exploratory pro-life organization Live Action has revealed a shocking glimpse of what Planned Parenthood is really teaching minors about sexual behavior.

It is a known fact that Planned Parenthood unashamedly promotes promiscuous sexual behavior. In a recent blog post, Planned Parenthood stated that “there’s nothing bad or unhealthy about having a big number of sexual partners.” A new exposé by Live Action, released June 10, catches a Planned Parenthood counselor giving an underage girl advice on violent sexual practices. When the 15-year-old girl expressed concerns about how painful types of torture sex (also known as BDSM, which includes the use of whipping, bondage and pain) would be painful, the counselor vaguely replied, “Oh, you know, it’ll feel good to you.”

It’s so offensive and disgusting,” Live Action President Lila Rose stated in a recent interview. “She’s coaching this girl how she can work up to more intense stuff during sex to increase the level of pain and domination.”

There are two things we can take from this. First, this exposé reveals just how far our culture has fallen. As stated in Genesis 2:22-24, God intended sex for a marriage relationship between one man and one woman. While the human body is indeed a beautiful creation, our society has exchanged the truth of God for lies. Romans 1:25 reads, “They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator Himself.” Our society’s obsession with sexual pleasure at any cost has led to the acceptance of sexual practices that disregard not just morality and respect, but even safety. Live Action News reports that their “investigative footage include[s] a clip from the video series ‘A Naked Notion,’ sponsored by Planned Parenthood, where the hostess explains the principles of BDSM, which involves sex partners beating, whipping, or otherwise inflicting pain on each other.”

Second, this discovery sheds new light on Planned Parenthood’s double standard. While PPFA claims to be there for every woman, Planned Parenthood is now revealed to be supporting incredibly degrading and violent sexual practices. Out of one side of their mouth, Planned Parenthood claims to be the staunchest supporter of women, and out of the other side, they encourage sexual practices that hurt those same women. “It just depends on what type of pain you can take,” the Planned Parenthood counselor said about BDSM.

This latest atrocity of Planned Parenthood demands attention and action by the people of God. We must fervently pray for all those involved in Planned Parenthood’s web of deception and lies, both their counselors and those who come to them for help.

In a world that is so dark, it is our duty as Christians to be instruments of light and life. Our witness can bring hope to those living in darkness; our witness can bring freedom to those who have been caught in the clutches of the culture of death. “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)

Alliance Defending Freedom: Open Letter to Planned Parenthood

by Rob Schwarzwalder

June 9, 2014

When Planned Parenthood opined recently that the Bible is silent about abortion, the surprise and dismay of Evangelical Protestants and traditional Catholics was — rightly — exceptionally high. The reason? OF COURSE the Bible speaks, at length, about the sanctity of human life within the womb.

My friend Casey Mattox of FRC’s ally Alliance Defending Freedom has written a short but decisive refutation of Planned Parenthood’s complete misstatement of the Bible’s teaching; it is copied below. Let’s pray for Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards and those in her circle of influence who assert that Scripture is silent on the personhood of the unborn child.

Dear Ms. Richards:

I recently learned that Planned Parenthood has published a “Pastoral Letter” which tells women:

“The truth is that abortion is not even mentioned in the Scriptures — Jewish or Christian — and there are clergy and people of faith from all denominations who support women making this complex decision.”

It appears that this letter is no longer available on your website, but an archived version can be found here for your reference (page 3). While I disagree with Planned Parenthood’s exegesis of Scripture, I am not writing to debate that point. Instead, I write to express my agreement with Planned Parenthood, reflected in the publication of this pastoral letter, that for many women their religious beliefs will be very relevant to their decision about whether to have an abortion.

On that common ground, on behalf of Alliance Defending Freedom, I would like to offer Planned Parenthood one free copy of the Bible for every Planned Parenthood facility in the country. Planned Parenthood could place these Bibles in their waiting rooms and permit women the opportunity to explore for themselves what the Jewish and Christian Scriptures have to say about abortion. There is no doubt that we are on opposite sides of this theological and moral question. But as we are in apparent agreement that Scripture and its teachings (or lack thereof in your view) on abortion would be relevant to many women’s abortion decisions, making these Bibles available to those women would certainly benefit your potential customers.

To allay any concerns you might have, the Bibles Alliance Defending Freedom would provide to Planned Parenthood would be new unmarked copies. For instance, we would not highlight Psalm 127:3 (“Truly children are a gift from the Lord; the fruit of the womb is a reward”), Psalm 139:13 (“You knit me together in my mother’s womb…”), Psalm 22:10-11 (“You have been my guide since I was first formed … from my mother’s womb you are my God”) or Jeremiah 1:5 (“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart”).

We would not dog-ear Exodus 20:13 (“You shall not kill”). Nor would we even place a bookmark at Luke 1:41, 44 (where the “baby [John the Baptist] … leapt for joy” in his mother’s womb when the baby Jesus was nearby in Mary’s womb).

Rather, we would make these Bibles available, unedited and without emphasis of any kind, allowing those women visiting a Planned Parenthood facility to review them themselves.

We look forward to assisting you in this effort to ensure that women are empowered to decide for themselves what the Bible teaches on this important question. Please let me know at your earliest convenience the addresses to which each Bible should be sent.

Sincerely,
Casey Mattox

Planned Parenthood Uses God to Boost Abortion Sales

by Family Research Council

May 30, 2014

All of my public relations classes have taught me the key to reaching a specific market: know your target audience. Strike a chord that resonates in their spirit. When you’ve built that credibility with them, make your sales pitch.

In attempts to reach their target audience and boost sales, Planned Parenthood has introduced a new emotional sales ploy. This time, they’ve used God’s Name in that appeal.

Recent news reports reveal a “pastoral letter” written by Planned Parenthood’s far-left clergy which used God as a new sales prop to reach their clients. The letter was drafted for Planned Parenthood clients and future clients who are religiously inclined, proclaiming the message that Scripture does not say anything for or against abortion and that many clergy believe abortion to be permissible.

The letter states: “Many people wrongly assume that all religious leaders disapprove of abortion. The truth is that abortion is not even mentioned in the Scriptures — Jewish or Christian — and there are clergy and people of faith from all denominations who support women making this complex decision.”

The Planned Parenthood Clergy Advocacy Board is composed of fifteen members, including one Muslim-affiliated member. The board does not include any Catholic priests.

Their letter states: “God loves you and is with you no matter what you decide.”

Planned Parenthood’s letter ignores Scripture that equates the killing of an unborn child with murder (Exodus 22:21). And it belittles the name and character of God. God does love people. Liberation comes from the truth that God loves all people, regardless of age or size. He loves that innocent child that He wonderfully created in His image (Psalm 139:14).

Planned Parenthood may think that this letter will help mask the devastation of abortion but in reality its overreaching and deceptive sales pitch doesn’t make abortion any less immoral nor does it help the many suffering post-abortive women who have experienced the destructive effects of abortion.

True relief is found in resting in the promise that God is a very present help in time of need. He is the One who grants the peace that surpasses all understanding and He promises to be with and to save all who call upon His name. Christ’s target audience includes all people, regardless of size. Do not be deceived He came that His all-inclusive audience might have life and have it to the full (John 10:10).

The Business of Planned Parenthood

by Anna Higgins

May 7, 2013

The public perception of Planned Parenthood tends to be favorable, even among those who identify themselves as pro-life. However, when confronted with the actual practices of the $1.5 billion “non-profit,” those favorable opinions turn sour, for good reason.

Revealing the truth about the practices of Planned Parenthood is the goal of a new campaign by Alliance Defending Freedom. The campaign, “Pretty Ugly, Planned Parenthood’s deception of the American Public,” is focused around four little-known truths about Planned Parenthood: that they 1) promote sexual promiscuity to children to create a customer; 2) promote abortion and enforce abortion quotas to drive funding; 3) keep health standards and overhead low, putting women at risk, and 4) they commit fraud by wasting and abusing taxpayer dollars.

Planned Parenthood is a business. They promote sexual promiscuity through advertisements and sex education curriculum to create a customer at a young age, which ensures financial stability and growth down the line. As sexual activity among the young rises, they will need the services of Planned Parenthood even more – from STD testing and eventually abortion. Abortion is big business, especially at Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider. Abortion, which costs $450/abortion (for first trimester abortion), makes up about half of Planned Parenthood’s revenue. As of 2013, every Planned Parenthood affiliate is required to provide abortions and is given a required quota to fulfill.

Because it is a business, Planned Parenthood is very much focused on the bottom line. Implementing minimum health and safety standards is not always a priority because compliance can be costly. Across the nation, Planned Parenthood affiliates have been cited for various health and safety violations. Additionally, there is evidence that Planned Parenthood, which received $542 million from the federal government last year, has manipulated its records, increasing government reimbursements.

The truth about Planned Parenthood isn’t pretty – in fact, it’s pretty ugly. They prey on the circumstances of vulnerable women and children to make a profit. Its time that Planned Parenthood is exposed for what they really are. Please visit www.ItsPrettyUgly.com to learn more and share the truth with others.

Ask Them What They Mean By “Choice”: Does Planned Parenthood or NARAL Think Choice Eliminates Adoptions?

by Krystle Gabele

January 22, 2013

Recently, I wrote an article in response to a story in USA Today about prospective parents having a difficult time adopting children in the U.S.  While the article shed light that fewer children were available for adoption, it also brought a sad equation to the picture regarding the number of abortions performed each year by Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers.

On this “Ask Them What They Mean by Choice Day,” I thought it would be great to ask both Planned Parenthood and NARAL a question:  If you are in favor of “choice,” then why do you advocate for abortions?  You see, choice provides options.  While abortion is a grave option that kills an innocent life, there is another option for a woman who may not want to raise a child — one that would not harm innocent life.  This option would be to allow a woman to make a choice for life and allow the child to be raised by a loving adoptive family.

In 2011 alone, Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) performed 333,964 abortions.   This number has climbed over the past year.  According to their recent report, 92 percent of pregnancy services (which includes adoption referrals, prenatal care, and abortion) were abortions, while adoption referrals accounted for only 0.6 percent. So, a woman is 145 times more likely to receive an abortion than an adoption referral (333,964 abortions were performed in 2011, but only 2,300 adoption referrals). PPFA continues to be one of the largest abortion providers in theUnited States, and for a group that positions itself as “pro-choice,” they seldom advocate for the choice of adoption.

Thankfully, there are alternatives to Planned Parenthood.  Many Pregnancy Resource Centers advocate for adoption or provide resources to those may want to raise their child.  Their work often goes unnoticed by the mainstream media.  FRC highlighted the works of Pregnancy Resource Centers in the report “A Passion to Serve.”  Within this report, there are stories of women who wanted to seek an abortion, only to change their mind upon receiving the support and resources available to either place their children up for adoption or to raise them.

Imagine if one of the 333,964 mothers would have brought her child into the world to be adopted by a loving family.  It would have been worth it to see a child thrive and experience life.  This is the choice that Planned Parenthood and NARAL neglects to advocate.

The Shrinking Adoption Pool

by Krystle Gabele

January 11, 2013

With the recent decision by the Russian government to ban Americans from adopting children from their country, it is becoming more and more difficult for families who wish to provide a child with parents who will love them. While some families are not deterred by this news, they are becoming discouraged, as it is difficult to provide a loving home to children orphaned in America as well.

This morning, USA Today had an article about prospective parents having difficulties adopting children in the United States. The author of the article commented on the difficulties that many families have in even becoming foster parents.

As a result, the number of U.S. infant adoptions (about 90,000 in 1971) has fallen from 22,291 in 2002 to 18,078 in 2007, according to the most recent five-year tally from the private National Council for Adoption. Though the numbers are only current through 2007, the group’s president, Chuck Johnson, expects the number has remained fairly stable since 2007, citing efforts to promote adoption.

There are fewer foster-care children available, because more are reunited with birth parents or adopted by relatives and foster parents. The overall number of kids in the system, 401,000 in 2011, has hit a 20-year low. The number waiting to be adopted fell from 130,637 in 2003 to 104,236 in 2011, according to the U.S. Children’s Bureau. Their median age is 7 and they’re a mix of races (28% black, 22% Hispanic and 40% white.)

However, it’s likely that contributing to the lack of children available for adoption is the prevalence of abortion in America. For example, Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), the nation’s largest abortion provider, has released its annual report from 2011-2012 and it shows an alarming statistic: PPFA performed 333,964 abortions in 2011 alone. There is no doubt that this number has increased during the 2012 time frame.

FRC even released a brochure highlighting how Planned Parenthood is one of the greatest advocates and promoters of abortion services. Yet PPFA accounts for only about one-quarter of all abortions nationwide.

While the abortion rates are alarming, there is no doubt that this could be tied to the number of children available for adoption in the United States. Our roughly 1.2 million annual victims of abortion could have been placed with families who wished to love and provide a future for them. Who knows? They could have grown up to find cures for fatal diseases or become future leaders in government, etc. Or they simply could have enjoyed their God-given right to life as the adopted children of loving families. We will never know.

Planned Parenthood: Raking in Government Money, Driving Up Abortion Numbers

by Family Research Council

January 9, 2013

Following the release of Planned Parenthood’s annual report yesterday, the Susan B. Anthony List  issued a press release reporting the following facts:

  • During fiscal year 2011-2012, Planned Parenthood reported receiving a record $542 million in taxpayer funding in the form of government grants, contracts, and Medicaid reimbursements. Taxpayer funding consists of 45% of Planned Parenthood’s annual revenue.
  • In 2011, Planned Parenthood performed a record high 333,964 abortions.
  • Over the past three reported years (2009-2011), Planned Parenthood has performed nearly one million abortions (995,687).
  • Cancer screening & prevention services and contraceptive services provided by Planned Parenthood continue to drop. Contraceptive services have dropped by 12% since 2009, and cancer screening & prevention services have dropped by 29%.
  • Planned Parenthood reported a total of three million clients in 2011, meaning that 11% of all Planned Parenthood clients received an abortion.

Though the Hyde Amendment prohibits the federal government from funding elective abortions, the simple fact is that money is fungible. As the FRC pamphlet America’s Abortion Provider: What Everyone Should Know about Planned Parenthood states, “By funding non-abortion services, the federal government essentially allows Planned Parenthood to cover overhead and other expenses, as it pursues a more lucrative and lethal business—abortions.”

In the Chart 1 from America’s Abortion Provider, we first show the correspondence between Planned Parenthood’s government funding and the number of abortions it performs.

However, in Chart 3, we show the almost perfect co-variance between annual increases or decreases in federal funding for Planned Parenthood and the following year’s increase or decrease in the number of abortions they perform.

The only exception to the very close correlation between present-year funding and next-year abortions is 2007-2008. At this point, we see a shift to correlation between present-year funding and present-year abortions.

As America’s Abortion Provider notes, “[i]n the end, the operating model of Planned Parenthood is such that its abortion activities require the overhead and general funding support of the federal government.”

The Hidden Health Risks of Terminating Pregnancy

by Krystle Gabele

February 22, 2012

Clarke Forsythe and Mailee Smith of Americans United for Life recently penned an op-ed in The Washington Times regarding a hearing that will be taking place in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit on Planned Parenthood v. Rounds, a case disputing a South Dakota statute, which was enacted in 2005, that mandates all women receive information of the medical risks of an abortion.

Planned Parenthood filed suit to prevent the South Dakota statute from becoming law, and one might be curious to know why they would prevent informed consent. Is it wrong for a woman to know the risks that may happen to her body during such a procedure? Besides ending the life of her unborn child, there are potential medical risks stemming from death to the emotional impact after the procedure.

There have been numerous studies that found an association between abortion and suicide. Other studies have found a link between abortion and depression (which is a major risk factor for suicide). For example:

A 1995 study by A.C. Gilchrist in the British Journal of Psychiatry found that in women with no history of psychiatric illness, the rate of deliberate self-harm was 70 percent higher after abortion than after childbirth.

A 1996 study in Finland by pro-choice researcher Mika Gissler in the British Medical Journal found that the suicide rate was nearly six times greater among women who aborted than among women who gave birth.

A 2002 record-linkage study of California Medicaid patients in the Southern Medical Journal, which controlled for prior mental illness, found that suicide risk was 154 percent higher among women who aborted than among those who delivered.

My colleague, Jeanne Monahan, recently mentioned in her op-ed, The mental toll of abortion, that there have been a large number of informed consent laws passed in state legislatures throughout the country. Isnt better that a woman receive more information for such an important decision?

The question remains: What is Planned Parenthood so afraid of? Are they afraid that the information will save a life, or are they afraid of the fact that a woman might be concerned on the long-term ramifications of having an abortion?

Feathers Ruffled at Greater DC Girl Scout Council

by Cathy Ruse

January 27, 2012

The Girl Scout Council of the Nationals Capitol is handing out a statement to people who are inquiring about the charges I and others have made about the far-Left agenda at Girl Scouts HQ. Lets take a look:

Regarding the charge that the Girl Scouts official policy is to admit transgender toddlers, the statement reads: Our Council has not dealt with requests from families of transgender youth. Our focus remains on girls in kindergarten through… It does not say they will not admit transgender boys and in fact it is the national policy that they do so if ever there is a request.

More from their statement: And, contrary to rumors, we do not make donations to this group [Planned Parenthood]. The fact is that as a charitable organization we do not make donations to any other organization. We see your Straw Man, ladies! Nobody is claiming that you donate money to Planned Parenthood, so disclaiming it gets you nowhere. The charge is that you partner with… Planned Parenthood organizations across the country, in the words of Girl Scout CEO Kathy Cloninger on The Today Show.

More: Girl Scouts of the USA is one of the 145 Member Organizations of WAGGGS, which promotes mutual understanding and cross-cultural opportunities for girls around the world. Ah yes, they are touchy about the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, an aggressively pro-abortion organization which openly partners with the International Planned Parenthood Federation. Girl Scouts USA often makes the point that they are just one of many member organizations; they dont like to admit that Girl Scouts USA is the single largest national component of WAGGGS, making up over a third of its 10 million members.

More: “the WAGGGS program is separate from our Girl Scout program, and your Girl Scout membership dues and cookie sales proceeds do not support WAGGGS. Not so fast. Every little girl who signs up for the Girl Scouts is automatically made a member of WAGGGS, and there are apparently 6 different ways that Girls Scouts USA fund the radical WAGGGS. If Girl Scouts of the Nations Capitol refrains from every one of these 6 funding streams, they should prove it. Girl Scouts USA paid about 1.5 million dollars in member quota dues to WAGGGS in 2009.

Finally, a small change was in order to my blog on the Girl Scouts from yesterday. In the 4th FACT about Girl Scouts and abortion, I clarified that Girl Scout “councils” are regional and multi-county entities, since people tend to confuse troops with councils.

Girl Scouts Not Pro-Abortion! Earth Not Round!

by Cathy Ruse

January 25, 2012

I recently opined in the Washington Times that people should forgo the Thin Mints this year because of the far-left sociopolitical agenda pushed by Girl Scouts HQ. Others, too, have sounded the alarm. Feathers have been ruffled.

While their transgressions are sundry (forcing troops to admit cross-dressing boys being just one example), Girl Scout executives and their apologists seem most eager to defend the Scouts supposed official neutrality on abortion and official non-partnership with the nations abortion giant, Planned Parenthood.

Here are just five facts for the skeptic to consider:

FACT: On March 5, 2004 Girl Scouts CEO Kathy Cloninger admits on NBCs The Today Show: We partner with many organizations. We have relationships with…Planned Parenthood organizations across the country. Watch her admit it here:

FACT: In January 2012, Girl Scouts employee Renise Rodriguez wears Pray to End Abortion t-shirt during off-duty visit to her Tucson Girl Scout office and is ordered to turn the shirt inside out or leave. See Renise in her t-shirt here.

FACT: For fourteen years the Girls Scouts in Waco, TX co-sponsor sex ed conference with Planned Parenthood. Its Perfectly Normal book (written by Planned Parenthood executive) given to all children in attendance says abortion can be a positive experience. View the 2003 event brochure listing Girl Scouts as a cosponsor here [PDF].

FACT: In national survey, sixteen other regional, multi-county Girl Scout councils admit to partnering with Planned Parenthood; many other councils refuse to answer survey question. Watch interview about the survey on The OReilly Factor here.

FACT: In 2010-2011 Girls Scouts in New York partner with Planned Parenthood sex ed program, Real Life. Real Talk. The program website touts their partners: Real Life. Real Talk. is proud to count the following organizations, faith communities and companies as partners: …Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways. See screenshot of program web page showing Girls Scouts as partner here.

There are many other things to consider, especially for those for whom this is not an academic exercise (i.e., if you have a daughter in Girl Scouts). Please, please visit www.100questionsforthegirlscouts.org or any other of the Girl Scout watchdog sites proliferating on the Internet.
