An equal life decision would be stepping into the path of a car certain to hit you in order to attempt saving a careless child of your own or not, or other decisions which are easy to imagine but much harder to deal with when actually confronted by them. I always put compassion first until I started being a victim of untrustworthy people who took advantage of my faith. The devil is in the details but gossip can destroy a person using speculation without any true details, which is how many people with compassion have been killed by those who do not seek truth. Family values need a foundation of compassion because to be human is to get overwhelmed with information and make mistakes without even realizing it.
