We are a Christian family with strong moral conservative convictions. We believe in the authority of the Holy Bible, the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the sanctity of life (the unborn and the living), the institution of marriage as defined by God (between a man and a woman).
We are sad because of the present atmosphere at the townhall meetings. We have seen too much distortion, too many false claims, too many misrepresentations regarding the proposed Health Care Reform. Our political leaders on the conservative side are undermining the president. Please, stop the nonsense: Obama was born in Hawaii, is not Muslim. (Proposed)Health Care Bill does not contain: coverage for abortion, coverage for illegal immigrants. “Malpractice” reform is considered, as well as the commitment that the reform would be “budget neutral”.
Our daughter was born with the most severe form of Cleft Lip & Palate. She was treated all her life (since 1989) under PacifiCare HMO and she got good care. She still needs some medical procedures that hopefully will conclude a long journey of pain and good results (thanks to excellent doctors and good medical technology).
However, in the last few years since PacifiCare has merged into United Health Care we are experiencing lots of problems regarding required treatments, procedures, etc. Last year alone we had an expense of over $8,000 over insurance premiums. The problems continues this year (as we write), and we don’t know what to expect in the future…
We believe, the president’s speech (last night) was reassuring to us all, his proposals are sensible, there is room for negotiations, and the “Medicare like” option financed by the people who opt to be insured thru the Federal Goverment is not “scary” if enough safeguards are put in place to prevent fraud, waste or care rationing.
As far as we are concerned: we believe the insurance costs, some doctors fees, out of pocket expenses, medication costs are too high for the middle class people. It leads to economic ruin for individuals, families, businesses (small & large) and government.
Finally, we are sad to see that our country (both non-Christians and Christians) and in fact the whole world worships a “god” more than our God. The name of this “god” is Mamon. This is serious, is idolatry!. God has judged this idolatry: in the week of September 15, 2008 our financial system collapsed! The whole world suffered.
We all spent above our means (individuals, businesses, government, etc.), too much chasing of “easy” money.
As Christians, lets be an example of good stewardship, compassion toward others, truth telling, fairness in business, integrity in our family, church, political office, church/Christians organizations leadership. Let’s answer God’s commands for our lives, live holy, and carry out His great commission..on this Earth, now in these last days….!
In Christ,
