In Ogden’s case, pornography is incompatible with Justice

by Pat Fagan
February 6, 2009

As the research shows, frequent use of pornography distorts the perception of social realities in gender relations, weakens and frequently destroys marriages, has deleterious effects on children and ultimately undermines the sexual capacities of those who become addicted to it.

Not only is it indefensible as an industry, rather it should be severely contained and suppressed because of its effects on family, children and adults. David Ogden’s connections to the pornography industry preclude his ability to serve in the Department of Justice.

Please Mr. President. NO OGDEN. His connection to
Pornography industry is not someone we would recommed for the Dept. of Justice. I hardly would think you would knowingly approve either.
There should be no thinking twice on this one.

I would be ashamed to have such a man as he represent me in any legal situation. Obama, think again please.

I am a parent and does not appreciate having a person in power who approves of any industry that abuses children. I find it disgusting and repulsive that any public official has that arrogance to hold any public offices. Take Ogden out. I demand this.

I can not understand how anyone- esp. someone who says he is a Christian _ would support/nominate someone who supports pornography. It is know to lead to sexual abuse of women and children. Does his support of abortion complement this? Pregnancy of minors certainly may have been the result of sexual abuse which may have followed use of pornography.
Please pull his nomination!

Having a pro-porn lawyer in a position of power anywhere is a disservice to the country at large by being an insidious threat to the human dignity of women.

Society clearly is suffering a huge burden in wasted resources and misguided thinking due to porn while the patriarchal dominance of men over women continues to subjugate and exploit women for the prurient interests of the testosterone-crazed portion of the society that thinks this cultural overlay is somehow normal and acceptable behavior. It is not. It is degrading, it is dehumanizing, it interferes with equality in the workplace.

Let’s have a quick analogy…Imagine black people continually protrayed in the media as inept, bumbling, servial types. Would that be right? No, it would be wrong. Would that cast a stereotypical image on all black people everywhere? Yes, it would. And it is no different for women.

Pornography hurts women and it hurts children by giving people the impression that women are only useful for sex. I am in the midst of several civil rights lawsuits dealing with my own sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace. It is disgusting. It needs to be stopped. It is wrong. Men who are sex addicts look like idiots. Pornography is detrimental to the advancement of the culture and to women as a protected class of citizen. It is bad.
