God + Intact Family = Less Porn

In the latest Mapping America, the General Social Survey shows that adults who frequently attended religious services as adolescents and grew up living with both biological parents are less likely to have watched an X-rated movie in the last year.

I think you have it wrong. Post hoc, and all that. It seems more plausable to me that ‘more church’ and ‘less porn’ are not directly related, but are both correlated to a third and hidden variable – the social views of the parents. It’s just a harder one to quantify. Children always inherit the views of their parents, and usually retain them as adults.
