Sex-selective abortion: "It turns our whole framework of choice on its head."

In a New York Times/Blogging heads clip, Linda Hirshman and Michelle Goldberg -- two pro-abortion feminists -- take on the issue of sex-selective abortion:

Both Hirshman and Goldberg seem (rightly) opposed to sex-selective abortion, but can't wrap their heads around the irony that they're unable oppose sex-selective abortion in the United States because it would be, in their eyes,an attack on "choice." As Goldberg admits in the end, "It turns our whole framework of choice on its head."

It seems that Hirshman and Goldberg would rather fend off any perceived threat to choice than side with a conservative on prohibiting sex-selective abortions. Then again, it's not all that surprising that they're personally opposed -- yet would continue to allow the destruction of baby girls just because they are girls.

We've all heard that line before.

What is their bottom line on abortion. That is their true personal value on abortion.

When someone says they are "personally opposed" to abortion, yet they believe that it should be legal, they are kidding themselves that they have a good moral conscience that rejects abortion, because the bottom line is that they are supporting abortion.

It is the equivalent of saying, "I am opposed to premeditated murder, but I think it should be legal because everybody has to make that personal choice."

Their bottom line is that baby murder should be legal.

What a complete oxymoron. How can two feminist even pretend to convince each other that it is OKAY to kill off the females! Is this not completely ridiculous? Look at the male/female ratio of India. Would these two like to see that happen in the US? Would they like to see ultra sounds become illegal in the US like they are in India? You have to draw the line somewhere... But I guess if there are no women left then there will be no one needing an abortion so no one will need to make a choice… right?

So to them, it's okay to be able to "choose" the gender of your child that will be born even if that means eradicating the female population? Because if they said "this is wrong" then they would have to say abortion is wrong?

Who cares if it's an attack on choice when it has to do with a whole gender being attacked and destroyed... These two need help understanding that they are WOMEN and they are threatened by ANYONE that thinks its okay to just kill the baby girls... because those same people have NO RESPECT FOR WOMEN! And if you allow them to kill the woman inside the women’s body why do they think that those same people would respect ADULT women??? Can we please STOP the madness now! Here's a choice for you, DONT HAVE SEX and better yet, if you only want boys go adopt a boy child, don’t create babies just to weed out the females! What a SICK and DISGUSTING practice! And the two of them are sick and disgusting for even humoring that it's okay for society!

Abortion is, by nature, anti-feminist. It does not require gender-based abortion to be so. The Feminist movement was supposed to be about equality. Abortion isn't equality. Somehow to these radical feminists, women have to have the 'choice' to kill their babies in order to attain equality. Men don't have to kill their children to be equal. Why should women?

I have actually considered this wild conspiracy theory:
When you look toward the funding of the big "family planning' organizations you find they are liberally underwritten by corporate America and international corporations.

Think about what happens when the birth rate is low.
1) Families are smaller.
2) Smaller families have more discretionary money.
3) Families spend this new wealth on stuff (TVs, PCs, vacations, more cars, bigger homes than they had with bigger families, blah blah blah)
4) They purchase this 'stuff' from corporate America and fill the pockets of these greedy corporations with profits.
So my thought is Big Business is pushing contraception and abortion for their own personal profit. Ironically most of Big Business would tell you they are Republicans, the party that is supposed to be pro-life.
