In & Out*

Senator Craig has changed his stance and despite previous signals and gestures that he has given, has decided to stall his departure from the Senate.

Other Republicans have vowed not to take this sitting down.

[Nigel] says:

I have to say I have no problem with Craig changing his mind, let the people decide come election time if he decides to run. Nor would I have any problem with him being a homosexual. His private life is his own business.

This doesn't mean I approve of what he did, either in the airport rest room or his hypocrisy and it doesn't mean that I would object should he change his mind again and actually resign.

I am not happy with him being in the senate for a different reason. This being his explanation for pleading guilty:-

If you are unable to grasp the simple concept of what pleading guilty to a crime means, then perhaps you should ask yourself if you might be better suited to a job that doesn't require you voting on complex issues that affect our nation.

I appreciate we often cast our lawmakers as incompetent fools, usually unfairly just because we disagree with their policies. But every now and then................

This has been pointed out before but I wonder how much of the "Other Republicans have vowed not to take this sitting down." has to do with the fact that there is a guaranteed republican replacement. Compare this to Vitter who in all likelihood would be replaced by a democratic appointee, so I rather suspect that the standard for support is party seats over party values.

[Randy] says:

Tom... you are a rascal.

[Patricia] says:

I think he should step down. He broke the law, admitted it and should not be representing the people.

[Patricia] says:

He should resign. He is not living up to the family values his constituents expects of him.

[James] says:

I agree with Patricia.

As well, I think David Vitter should step down for the same reasons. He broke the law, admitted it and should not be representing the people. He should resign. He is not living up to the family values his constituents expects of him.

[Suricou Raven] says:

He isn't going to step down. He kept delaying with excuses. Now he has run out of excuses, and he still isn't going.

There is an appropriate democratic process for this situation: Put up with him until the next election, and vote for his opponent. Until then, seems his constituents are stuck with him.

[bigdog187] says:

Why not let the letter of the law in the State of Minnesota and the "voting block of Idaho" decide Sen. Craig's fate. Then based on those methods the rest of the masses act accordingly. I don't know Sen. Craig and don't care to, but to me any way, their seems to be something more their than what meets the eye. Yes the Senator said he was gulty at the time he was charged, but he says he acted in haste and was coherced by the plain clothes detective. We've all heard the tape(s) and the post interviews, but that's it. Somethings rotten in Denmark here and it should be, if their smart, up to the lawyers, judge and jury of Mr. Craig peers and eventually the "voting block of Idaho" to decide weather Senator Craig is gulty or not and for us the masses to get behind that and support it for good, bad and indiffeent. This nation and its laws are ours and its up to us to live and die by them accordingly and this situation has not come to the full light of day afterall, "sunlight is the best dissenfectant". God speed and happy trails.....
