Tom McClusky, along with former FRC staffers Kristin Hansen and Pia de Solenni, contributed to National Review Online's symposium on the criminalization of abortion. From Tom's entry:
...In fact, the Family Research Council has consistently supported legislation that protects the expectant mother and her child; we have also called for case studies of postpartum depression in women who have had abortions (a measure introduced by the great Rep. Joe Pitts (R., Penn). Our main opposition in getting these pro-women initiatives into law tends to be pro-abortionist groups like Planned Parenthood. In the U.S., laws against abortion have always targeted the abortionist, never the woman. To suggest that women be criminalized for having an abortion is rather ludicrous. U.S. law gives the abortionist the final say about whether the abortion will happen or not and additionally gives him the right to profit from it. The act of abortion itself is exploitive of the woman even as it kills the child.

Hmm... if abortion is murder...
And the abortionist is a murderer to hire...
Then wouldn't the woman's position be exactly equivilent to that of anyone else who hires a hit-man to take out an inconvenient person?
Logical consistancy is entirely optional in this debate. The only place that even tries to think is the center as they seek an arrangement of exceptions, term limits and considerations of circumstances. The center though is shouted down by those on both sides - they cant be heard over either the right (Who would rather see a woman die than see her undergo an abortion) and the left (who have been forced by the right into an equal and opposite extremity).

I have seen at least one website that gives very detailed instructions on how to do it safely.

Both the mother and the abortionist are killing a human life. Can anyone say that it isn't a human life? No, it is from the moment of conception. I personally don't think that "when a mother's life is in danger" is acceptable reason to deliberately abort a baby. I trust God. He has his hand on all of us.
