Same-Sex Parents Rolling Back Family Values

Here's today's Washington Watch Daily commentary from FRC Radio:

This year, the White House Egg Roll isn’t the family event it’s cracked up to be. For the second year in a row, same-sex parents have used the egg roll as a platform for the homosexual agenda. Until 2006, the event was one of few parties in Washington that had not been exploited for political purposes. Now the hundred-year-old tradition has some people walking on egg shells. In part because liberal organizations like Family Pride are planning to have a big presence at the White House. According to one mom, “We want to show the public that gay parents are just like everyone else.” But that’s exactly the problem. Homosexual parents aren’t like everyone else. The Egg Roll paints a rosy picture, but the reality is, same-sex parents are unequally “yolked.” Study after study shows that no amount of love or money can compensate for the missing presence of a married mother and father. It’s a clever scheme. Homosexuals know that normalizing gay families at the White House puts them one step closer to legitimizing it in everyone’s house. This Easter, people in Washington should be hunting—not just for eggs—but obviously for the truth.

A lot of single parents show up for the event too. But I don't hear Tony complaining about the vast subversive "Singles" agenda do you? Naw, that just doesn't sound as scary as the "Homosexual Agenda". Nor does it scare as many people into giving money to FRC.

You see, while gay and lesbian parents are busy trying to put a real and human face on their families by taking a more open part of American traditions, Tony is trying to do the opposite: Turn everyday human beings into a vague threatening "Them", or "Agenda" (cue scary music).

Thats what you do if you want to justify prejudice and bigotry toward other people, turn them in the eyes of others into a non-human group or Agenda, homosexual or otherwise.

Its a very recognizable tactic. Al Sadr does the same exact thing in Iraq in order to convince Muslims to hate Americans, AKA the "Great Satan".

[John] says:

Gay people have families, too.

They deserve the same respect and protection of the law as any other family.

Where are these 'studies'? I have read of exactly three studies. But of the three, I find none of them at all credible. One of them produced a completly rediculous (It claimed homosexuals are so promiscuous, it would take a new partner every two weeks from 20 to 60 to reach their 'average' figure). One of them was by an organisation actively lobbying against gay marriage and openly stateing their political position. The last used a biased sample (The mean time-since-marriage/partnership for the heterosexual sample was *way* higher than for homosexuals, because legally-recognised homosexual parent-couples are still quite a new thing).

[Matt Dunn] says:

I just read the New Testament, and you know what Paul and the original Christians really railed against? Divorce and remarraige ("adultery"), not homosexuality. Tell that to Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Dole, Rudy Guliani, John McCain, etc. Family values?

[Murchu] says:

the word homosexual was nowhere to found in the Bible, that word homosexual was coined in the late 19th century.

Jesus himself was not quoted anywhere in the Bible as making a reference to homosexuality.

Homosexuals are just good and decent as anyone else. Just because their numbers are smaller the bad apples are more noticeable and more sensationalized.

The gay couples I know of are just as devoted, caring, committed, respectful, faithful to each other as any straight couple.

I know of gay couples that have been together for over a decade.

Make just as good parents as any one else.

But even so, for some reason they are an obsession for FRC.

The same-sex couples participanting in the Easter Egg Roll were nothing more than political activist using children as a platform to make a statement - a dispicable strategy. Many traveled hundreds and even over a thousand miles (Austin, TX) to attend the event solely for this purpose. At the very least, security personnel should have confiscated upon entry the rainbow-colored leis the activists wore so that they could be more "like every other family" at the event who made no political issue of the event and were there for the benefit and enjoyment of their children. Sure, the event was open to anyone who was custodian of a child, but homo-activists had to mark themselves as such by wearing something so obnoxiously political, that the motivation was excruciatingly evident.
