Here's today's Washington Watch Daily commentary from FRC Radio:
Talk about giving global warming the cold shoulder. Last weekend, there were dozens of events planned for a group trying to raise awareness on climate change. But how’s this for irony? Some of the rallies were canceled because of freezing temperatures and snow! Despite the doubts about global warming, Congress insists on debating the bogus “national security risks” of climate change. According to a new study, it could lead to “border tensions, the spread of disease, and conflicts over food and water.” The whole thing is laughable, considering that more people are concerned about their rising heating bills than they are about global warming. Of course, it’s no small coincidence that the same liberals who endorse these so-called “security threats” are the very ones who want to cut and run in the face of a very real danger—terrorism fueled by radical Islam. If the government wants to spend money on defense strategies, how about funding real national security efforts—like the war in Iraq? If they want to get serious about protecting Americans, then it’s time they turned up the heat on things other than global warming!

As I have consistently pointed out on my site on global warming http://www.globalwarming-factorfiction.com the daily weather or the season's weather has little correlation to climate change. The fact that it was cold on a certain day is only coincidence.
I agree, and I point out regularly on my site, that there are much better ways to spend money to save the world. I discuss AIDS on my site but terrorism is a good choice as well.

Thd DHS has a few events of over-hyping fears in the past - they once sent two agents to a toy-shop to order the owner to stop selling an imitation rubix cube, reasoning that patent-infringement was a theat to the US economy and thus national security - but in this case, its probably an area of real concern.
It is hardly a scientific approach to try to discredit a theory with anecdotal evidence or isolated incidents. Pointing to a bit of unusually cold weather does not argue against a general warming trend. I could equally claim that the unusually hot weather earlier this week here in the UK was proof of global warming. Its not. You need to take a statistical approach. Climatologists have a good idea of global temperature, produced by averageing readings taken over the entire surface of the earth from both ground stations and satelite observations. This global average is increasing.
'Global warming' is a misleading term anyway. The overall trend will be warmer, but the local changes less predictable. Some places may even get cooler, due to disruptions in ocean currents and winds that transfer heat from the tropics to the cooler temperate regions.
